Frequently Asked Questions - Boarding
Do I have to be a client of Sunnyvale Veterinary Clinic to board my pet with you?
Yes. Our space is limited, so this is a service we offer to our clients only. But you are welcome to become a client any time! To do this, simply schedule an appointment with one of our doctors for a physical exam your pet.
What are the vaccine requirements for boarding?
We require that pets are current on the following vaccines: Dogs - DHPP, Rabies, and Bordetella; Cats - FVRCP and Rabies.
What brand of food do you feed?
We feed high quality Hill's Science Diet and Iams Veterinary Formula diets.
Can I bring my pet's own food?
Yes, absolutely. There are many pets who have special dietary needs, and we are happy to accommodate you.
How often are dogs taken outside?
We take dogs out into our play yard a minimum of three times per day. Additional playtime with one of our staff, in 15 minute increments, is available for an additional fee. On the Boarding Agreement Form you can indicate which types of games your dog likes to play. (fetch, tug, etc) If you have two dogs, this is a great way to let them romp and play together!
Can I bring special toys or bedding for my pet?
Yes! Pets feel more comfortable when they have familiar objects. We will ask you to fill out a form detailing which items you brought, so that we can make sure to send them home with you. We do ask that you not bring large dog beds which will not fit in our washing machine. A towel or small rug from your home are good sized items which can be of comfort to your dog or cat.
Can I bring a rawhide or other similar chew treat?
We do not permit boarding pets to have items which should be eaten only under constant supervision, such as rawhide chews. Kong toys, Nylabones, or other similar durable non-edible chew toys are recommended.
Do you offer a discount for boarding more than one pet?
Yes, if your pets share a run (dogs) or condo (cats).
